Students at Pickering Middle School have been recognized for their support of My Brother’s Table, a nonprofit organization in Lynn that provides meals and other social services to people in need.

Students at Pickering were awarded the Top School Participation Award for their support of the nonprofit’s Seven Million Meals Walk last October. My Brother’s Table holds the annual 3-mile walk along the shores of Swampscott and Lynn to raise money for the soup kitchen.

My Brother’s Table Board of Directors member Sean Reid, who also serves on the Lynn School Committee, recently visited Pickering Middle School to present an engraved plaque to students at the school.

“Pickering Middle School’s unwavering dedication to helping others is truly remarkable. We extend our sincere thanks to these students for their outstanding efforts, which will undoubtedly have a direct and tangible impact on our community,” Reid said.

Pickering Guidance Counselor Dena Coffey was credited with rounding the students up for the walk in a press release from My Brother’s Table.

My Brother’s Table Board of Directors Vice President Donna Coppola, a former Lynn School Committee member, expressed her gratitude for the students at Pickering and Coffey.

“Their steadfast support plays a vital role in our mission to provide meals throughout the community,” Coppola said. “Year after year, they exhibit exceptional generosity and compassion, setting a shining example for us all.”

The release also said that the students at Pickering are looking forward to volunteering at My Brother’s Table once they reach high school. The school’s students are currently planning a sock drive for the soup kitchen next month.
