Peabody sets snow emergency parking ban
press-releases

Peabody Mayor Ted Bettencourt set a snow-emergency parking ban effective at midnight Monday, his office said in a statement.

The ban will stretch into Tuesday, as the city prepares for a major nor’easter to descend on the state, with more than a foot of snow possible, according to the National Weather Service.

Residents are asked to remove all parked cars from city roads by midnight to help ensure safe and effective snowplow operations.

Peabody police are set to activate the blue light system beginning at 4 p.m. to help alert rush hour commuters to the parking ban, but Bettencourt’s office said no cars would be ticketed or towed prior to midnight.
